Whether painted on a table or a teapot, in oil or watercolor, the rose is a joy to behold. The Decorative Arts Collection is pleased to present to you a very Sentimental Collection of Roses.
We asked a group of artists to paint a piece to become a permanent part of the Decorative Arts Collection. The deadline was impossible, yet we were overwhelmed at the positive response we received for this project. It seems that no single subject causes as much enthusiasm as roses. Some of the artists are known for their roses, others are not. They were told only to create a piece that had roses as the main subject matter. Everything else was up to the artists. In this collection you will see a variety of styles, surfaces and mediums represented, all showing the diversity of decorative painting.
A few artists were chosen to present instructional material for this book. The main focus of the instruction is on the roses. We know these rose paintings will inspire you; we hope the instructions will help you become a more accomplished artist.
